We Operate Under EU Directive 2015/2302
Burning Trips Greece is a digital marketplace platform that enables travelers to exercise their legal right to transfer package travel contracts under Article 9 of the EU Package Travel Directive (2015/2302). This law grants travelers the right to transfer their booking to another person given reasonable notice (at least 7 days). As an information society service under the E-Commerce Directive (2000/31/EC), Burning Trips Greece provides the technology platform — we are not a travel agency, tour operator, or licensed travel intermediary, and we do not require registration in the Greek Tourism Registry (MHTE).
1. Escrow & Payment Protection
To prevent fraud, Burning Trips acts as a neutral third-party escrow service. When a buyer purchases a trip:
- Funds are securely held in a segregated account.
- The money is NOT released to the seller until the official name change confirmation is received from the travel provider.
- If the name change is rejected by the provider, the buyer receives a 100% refund immediately.
2. Transfer Fees & Liability
While the transfer right is guaranteed by law, travel providers are allowed to charge strictly for the actual administrative cost of the name change.
- Buyer Responsibility: Any official transfer fee charged by the hotel or agency (usually €20-€50) is passed to the buyer.
- Seller Responsibility: The seller remains liable for the booking until the transfer is complete.
- Platform Fee: Burning Trips charges a 12% success fee to the seller upon completion.
3. Prohibited Listings
We strictly prohibit the resale of:
- Standalone scheduled flight tickets (e.g., Aegean, Ryanair) unless part of a package.
- Bookings less than 7 days from departure.
- Tickets purchased with miles or points.
4. Terms of Service
By using Burning Trips Greece, you agree to the following terms. Please read them carefully before creating an account or completing any transaction on our platform.
- Platform Role: Burning Trips Greece is a digital marketplace platform classified as an information society service under EU Directive 2000/31/EC (E-Commerce Directive) and Greek Law 3471/2006. We provide a technology platform where users can exercise their existing legal right to transfer package travel contracts under EU Directive 2015/2302, Article 9. We are not a travel agency, tour operator, travel intermediary, or travel organizer. We do not organize, sell, mediate, or guarantee any travel services. We are not registered in the Greek Tourism Registry (MHTE) as this is not required for our classification as a digital platform service provider.
- User Responsibilities: Users must provide accurate and truthful information when listing or purchasing a trip. Sellers must hold a valid, transferable booking and provide all documentation required for the name change. Buyers must verify their eligibility to travel (including visa and passport requirements) before completing a purchase.
- Account Termination: Burning Trips Greece reserves the right to suspend or permanently terminate any user account that engages in fraudulent activity, repeatedly violates these terms, provides false information, or misuses the platform in any way. Users may also request voluntary account deletion at any time by contacting support.
- Limitation of Liability: Burning Trips Greece shall not be held liable for any losses arising from travel provider decisions (including but not limited to name change rejections, schedule changes, or cancellations), force majeure events, or any actions taken by third-party service providers. Our liability is limited to the fees collected by the platform for any given transaction.
- Governing Law: These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Hellenic Republic (Greece) and applicable European Union regulations, including EU Directive 2015/2302 on package travel. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Athens, Greece.
These terms were last updated on March 15, 2026. We may update these terms from time to time, and continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance of any changes.
